Why add Girnar at all
Girnar is the only stop on this circuit that asks something of you. Dwarka and Somnath are temple towns you walk into. Girnar is a mountain with 9,999 steps to its final summit, and adding it changes both the shape of the trip and the way it ends.
The coastal version of this route turns around at Somnath and drives 237 km back to Dwarka. This one keeps going inland: Somnath to Junagadh is about 94 km, roughly two hours, and it puts you down at the foot of the hill instead of back where you started. Usha Breco's Udan Khatola, which runs the Girnar ropeway, lists Rajkot at 114 km from Girnar and Ahmedabad at 338 km. So the fifth day ends nearer your flight or train than a coastal loop leaves you, and the drive you would have spent repeating the Porbandar highway buys a mountain instead.
The catch is the mountain does not run on your schedule. The ropeway operates 07:00 to 17:00, the last ride up leaves at 16:30, and it lands at the Ambaji Mata temple, which the operator puts at about 5,000 steps up. The Dattatreya shrine at the 9,999 step summit is another climb on foot from there. The Jain temples of Neminath sit lower still, at about 3,800 steps, below where the cable car stops. Nobody selling this trip tells you that, and it is the single fact that decides whether your Girnar day works.
What goes wrong
Two dates take Junagadh off the table. The Girnar Lili Parikrama, a 36 km walk around the hill, runs on the Kartik Sud Agyaras to Purnima days in November and draws close to a million people, per Gujarat Tourism. The Bhavnath fair at Mahashivratri fills the same town in February, and online ropeway slots were closed from 11 to 15 February 2026 during it. Hotels go, roads go, the hill is not yours. We check both calendars before quoting, and if your dates land on either we will move Girnar to the front of the trip or tell you to pick another week.
Know before you go
The Girnar ropeway runs 07:00 to 17:00, last ride up 16:30, and ends at Ambaji Mata, not the summit.
The 9,999 step summit at Dattatreya is a further climb on foot and needs a dawn start.
Dwarkadhish closes 13:00 to 17:00, so afternoon arrivals wait for the evening darshan.
Somnath's light and sound show does not run during the monsoon.
Junagadh fills for the November parikrama and the Mahashivratri fair at Bhavnath.
Wear shoes you can walk steps in. Both ropeway stations involve stairs and standing queues.

Good to know on price
Every tier includes the same four nights, the private air-conditioned vehicle, daily breakfast, toll, parking and driver allowance. Only the beds change.
There is no five star tier on this circuit, and we will not pretend otherwise. Dwarka, Somnath and Junagadh do not have genuine five star inventory. What we call the top tier is resort-grade four star: The Fern Sattva sits on three acres with 81 rooms, Lemon Tree Resort Somnath is the one property on that coast actually facing the sea, and The Fern Leo is the nearest thing Junagadh has to a resort. Anyone selling you a five star Somnath Dwarka package is relabelling one of these.
Where the hotel sits matters more than its star count on this route, and in Dwarka the ranking inverts. Dwarkadhish Lords Eco Inn, which sits on the Comfort tier, is about 800 m from the temple on the sea front, and Lords describes it as the only sea view stay in Dwarka. Lemon Tree Premier is on Nageshwar Road by the Iskon gate, 0.7 km from Dwarkadhish and 0.9 km from Gomti Ghat by its own factsheet. Both are a walk to the evening darshan. The Fern Sattva, which costs the most, is out at Baradia on three acres, quieter and greener, and roughly ten to fifteen minutes of driving from the same temple.
So on a two night Dwarka stay the cheapest tier gives you the shortest walk to darshan and the most expensive gives you the most space. That is worth knowing before you upgrade, and it is why we ask what you actually want from Dwarka rather than selling you up the ladder by default.
Junagadh works the same way. Click Hotel sits inside the Junagadh railway compound by its own description, which on a day five departure means the drop is a two minute transfer rather than a checkout and a drive, and the ropeway base at Bhavnath is 6.7 km out from there. Bellevue Sarovar Premiere and The Fern Leo are the more comfortable rooms and both are in or around the city rather than at the foot of the hill. Nobody sleeps at the taleti on this trip. Everybody drives out in the morning.
Rs. 17,999 across four nights is about Rs. 4,500 per person per night with the car and breakfast inside that figure, which is why the price moves with group size: the same vehicle split four ways is not the same vehicle split two ways. Hotel tier and season move it further. The starting price is an honest floor, not the number for two people in Junagadh during the fair.
General darshan at both Somnath and Dwarkadhish is free. Ropeway tickets are sold by Usha Breco's Udan Khatola, at the Bhavnath Taleti counter or on udankhatola.com, and slots go early on weekends. Seva and donations at Somnath go through the Shree Somnath Trust's own site at somnath.org and nowhere else. No private number, no personal UPI, ours included.
