Why Dakor belongs on a Dwarka yatra
Most add-on stops on this coast are geography. Dakor is theology. It is counted among the Panch Dwarkas, the five Dwarkas of Krishna, and a long-standing tradition holds that a pilgrimage to Dwarka is completed only when you have taken darshan at Dakor as well. Ask anyone selling you a Dakor add-on why the two towns belong together and see whether they can answer.
The reason is the Bodana story. By tradition a Dakor Rajput named Vijayanand Bodana walked to Dwarka to worship, again and again, for decades, until age made the journey impossible, and the Lord came back with him in a bullock cart. The image at Dakor is held to be the one that left Dwarka. That is why devotees still walk to Dakor on every full moon, and it is why this itinerary runs in the order it does: you see where the Lord went, then you go to where he came from.
The honest counterweight is the map. Dakor sits in Kheda district, roughly 85 km from Ahmedabad, about 43 km from Anand and around 30 km from Nadiad, which is the nearest railhead. Dwarka is at the opposite tip of the state. So day one takes you east before the trip turns west, and it ends at a halt on the Rajkot road rather than at the sea. Nobody drives Dakor to Dwarka in a day, and we do not pretend it can be done.
What goes wrong
Noon. The Ranchhodraiji temple opens early, closes at 12:00 and does not reopen until 16:00. Arrive at half past twelve and you either lose four hours or lose the darshan, and neither leaves you able to start a long westward drive. Day one exists inside that morning window and nothing else about the day matters as much.
Purnima. On every full moon, walkers arrive at Dakor on foot in Bodana's memory, and the temple rewrites its schedule around them. Phagan Purnima at Holi is the largest of these. If your day one lands on a Purnima we either go in well before dawn or we move Dakor to the end of the trip. Tell us your dates and we will check the calendar rather than let you find out at the barricade.

The Dakor temple closes at 12:00 and reopens at 16:00, so day one runs on the morning.
Phones, cameras and leather items are not allowed inside the Dakor temple.
On Purnima the town fills with walkers and the darshan schedule changes.
Dakor to Dwarka is past 500 km, so night one is a halt at Rajkot rather than the coast.
Dwarkadhish closes 13:00 to 17:00 and Somnath's light show pauses in the monsoon.
Nadiad, about 30 km away, is the nearest railhead to Dakor.

Good to know on price
Rs. 15,999 across four nights is about Rs. 4,000 per person per night with the private vehicle and breakfast inside that figure. It moves with group size, hotel tier and season.
Dakor itself is a temple town, not a hotel town, and this plan does not sleep there. Night one is Rajkot, which is where the day's driving realistically ends. Judge that night on dinner and on how fast you get back on the road, not on sightseeing, because you will see nothing of Rajkot and we are not going to pretend you will. Lords Inn Rajkot on the entry tier is pure vegetarian throughout, which matters to a good number of yatra groups and is the reason it sits where it does rather than lower. The Fern Residency is the closest of the three to Rajkot Junction, roughly a kilometre and a half, and Sayaji Rajkot on Kalavad Road is the largest and the furthest out.
In Dwarka the ladder inverts as it always does on this coast: Dwarkadhish Lords Eco Inn on the entry tier is about 800 m from the temple and sea facing, while The Fern Sattva at Baradia costs the most and puts ten to fifteen minutes of driving between you and darshan.
General darshan at Dakor, Dwarkadhish and Somnath is free. Seva and donations at Somnath go through the Shree Somnath Trust at somnath.org, and at Dakor through the temple's own trust at ranchhodraiji.org. No private number, no personal UPI, ours included.
